Manchester United have received a significant double fitness boost with both Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mount returning to training.

Striker Hojlund picked up a hamstring injury in pre-season and is yet to play in 2024-25, while midfielder Mount came off at half-time in United's defeat to Brighton last month with a "minor injury". However, the Red Devils have confirmed the pair are back in training and are closing in on a first-team return.

A statement on United's website reads: "Manchester United have received a double fitness boost during Wednesday's training session. Both Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund trained with the group at Carrington, with our photographers capturing the pair working hard to prove they are ready to return to action."

Erik ten Hag's team had a mountain of injuries to contend with last season, including the absences of Hojlund and Mount for periods. But having them back fit gives United more strength in depth, with both having a shot at being regular starters.

United, who sit 10th in the Premier League after two wins and two defeats this season, travel to winless Crystal Palace on Saturday evening, before beginning their Europa League campaign next Wednesday against FC Twente. It remains to be seen exactly when Mount and Hojlund will be back in contention to play.
