AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan has handed the Rossoneri a transfer ultimatum as Chelsea continue to hunt down his signature in a cut-price deal.

Chelsea have been looking to sign a goalkeeper since the end of the season as they are keen on upgrading on Robert Sanchez ahead of the Club World Cup in the United States later this month. The Blues have shortlisted AC Milan's Maignan as their number one option and have been trying to sign the Frenchman in a cut-price deal with his contract set to run out next summer.

As per reports, Chelsea submitted an initial bid of €15 million (£12.6m), but the offer was turned down by AC Milan as the struggling Serie A side believe that the French goalkeeper is worth close to €30 million (£25.2m). However, L'Equipe has now reported that Maignan has offered the Rossoneri an ultimatum to either expedite his sale now, or he will leave for free in 2026.

L'Equipe have also added that the earlier reports regarding Chelsea's €15 million bid are off the mark, but have added that the negotiations are progressing normally. However, the Blues will be hoping that the deal can be sorted as soon as possible, with the Club World Cup approaching quickly.

The transfer window for the Club World Cup is set to close on Tuesday, June 10, and Chelsea will be hoping that they can sign the deal before that. Enzo Maresca wants Maignan in his squad in the United States and will be hoping that the Frenchman will be available for the same.
