Instead, the Northern Irish gaffer took up the post at Leicester City after the sacking of Claude Puel.
Celtic fans were fuming with Rodgers for making what they deemed to be a step down, but the Leicester boss has now explained his reasoning for swapping Celtic Park for the King Power Stadium.
Rodgers admitted that it was a tough choice to leave the Scottish champions as he’s supported them his whole life, but he thinks that Leicester are the right club due to their ambition, stability and squad quality.
He went on to say that he believes the Foxes can challenge for a spot in the top six, and that was the real draw that brought him to his decision.
