The former Charlton youngster has been in and out of the team since moving to Anfield as a teenager, spending time on both sides of the defence but never in his preferred centre-back position.

The pre-season injury to Dejan Lovren handed him his chance in the middle though, and he has never looked back.
After several assured performances for the Reds, Gomez received another England call-up, and was fantastic against Spain on Monday.
The Three Lions won 3-2 courtesy of a goal from Marcus Rashford and a brace from Raheem Sterling, but Gomez is the man taking all the plaudits once again.
